Announcement: Law Office of Seaton M. Daly III, P.L.L.C. launches Class Action Investigation

Attention Boeing Employee Credit Union and Washington State Employees Credit Union Members

Class Action Investigation: Heartland Payment Systems data breach – The Law Office of Seaton M. Daly III, P.L.L.C., is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Heartland Payment Systems (“HPS”), Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU), Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU), and other State of Washington banks affiliated with HPS. HPS, a publicly traded company, processes credit card transactions and provides other services for over 250,000 businesses across the country, including restaurants and small retail stores. HPS reportedly handles approximately 100 million credit card transactions per month.

HPS recently announced that certain data that it maintains in its processing systems had been accessed by outside hackers in 2008. It has been reported that this compromised information includes debit and credit card numbers, expiration dates, and internal bank codes. According to reports, HPS only became aware of the breach after it was notified of patterns of fraudulent credit card activity by Visa and MasterCard. HPS does not appear to be offering any credit monitoring services or other relief to consumers affected by the breach. The incident has already been described as the largest credit card data breach ever.  WSECU and BECU use HPS for processing purposes, and therefore, if you are a member of either one of those credit unions, please visit their website to find out what they are doing to protect your personal information.

If you have reason to believe that your credit card, debit card, or other sensitive personal information may have been compromised as a result of the recent data breach at HPS, or if you have recently had a credit card canceled by a bank for any reason, please contact Seaton Daly at sdaly@seatondalylaw.com, and reference in the subject line "HPS Class Action."
